March 2010 Meeting

Our March meeting is on Saturday, the 27th at 10:30 am (note the starting time).

 

The topic is Butterfly Gardens,

a presentation by one of our Club Founders, Duane Dupee.


We’ll meet at City Escape Garden Center, located at 3022 West Lake Street, which is just east of the Garfield Park Conservatory. There is a small cafe at City Escape and a special Club Member discount will be offered in the store. Visit them at www.cityescape.biz

A presentation by “Doctor Wally” of Pesche’s Flowers on how to help your indoor greenery thrive.


        We’ll meet at Victory Centre,

January 2010 Meeting

Happy New Year Everyone!

Our first meeting of 2010 is a Winter Gathering on Saturday, January 30 at 6:30 pm. The location is Margaret and David's home.

We'll provide chili and soft drinks, you'll provide hors d'oeuvres and BYOB, and we'll all indulge in conversation about growing matters. Bring a friend and neighbor along to discover more about our club and its' plans for the coming year.

Preparing Your Garden for Winter

A presentation by Bob Rochon on how to put your garden to rest. Using our Community Garden as a demonstrator, you'll learn what and how to cut back, cover, or otherwise prepare for those cooler days ahead, so dress for the weather.

Here’s the scoop on our last two informative meetings of 2009

    A presentation by Robert Neri of Robert’s Floral Design Studio on evaluating the design elements of your garden; artfully placing objects or statuary. You’ll learn how to consider, add or replace pieces in your green space, anticipating their effect in the coming seasons.

In October, on Saturday the 24th at 9:30 am
a week early to avoid Halloween

    A presentation by Bob Rochon on how to put your garden to sleep for the winter season. Using our Community Garden as a demonstration, you’ll learn what and how to cut back, cover, or otherwise prepare for those cooler days ahead.

on Saturday October 17
    The Historic Chicago Bungalow and Green Home Expo is being held at the Merchandise Mart. It’s from 10 am to 4 pm, it’s free! and it features speakers, workshops, exhibitors, and information on energy usage improvements. This information is useful for all that own a vintage home, you don’t need to own a bungalow to attend. More info from the Historic Chicago Bungalow Association at www.chicagobungalow.org
