We'll be meeting at 1830 North Natchez
The topic is Edible Landscaping and Square Foot Gardening
We'll be exploring ways of using edible plants throughout the home landscape, including examples of fruits, vegetables and herbs that can serve a decorative role, as well as a discussion of some common flowers that are in fact, edible.
We'll also go over the basics of using a Square Foot Gardenmethod of growing vegetables that allows one to grow more plants in less space, with less weeding and watering. Included will be an overview of successive planting and season extenders to increase yields from a small city lot, as well as tips for planning to plant what you want to eat (and in the right amounts).
Many, many thanks to all who participated in Earth Day, either providing labor or plants or both. The Rutherford Sayre Park fieldhouse front yard is looking good while construction continues on the new playground.

April 2010 Meeting, EARTH DAY
Our April meeting is on Saturday, the 24th at 9:30 am.
It is the 40th anniversary of Earth Day and we have joined with the Rutherford Sayre Park Advisory Council to celebrate.
We will clean up and plant both the Park and Community Garden. Snacks will be provided.
Bring work gloves, rakes, brooms, shovels, buckets, sunscreen and a water bottle. Dress in layers and wear sturdy shoes. We'll work till Noon.
Meet at the west side of the Field House for assignments.

January 2010 Meeting
Happy New Year Everyone!
Our first meeting of 2010 is a Winter Gathering on Saturday, January 30 at 6:30 pm. The location is Margaret and David's home.
We'll provide chili and soft drinks, you'll provide hors d'oeuvres and BYOB, and we'll all indulge in conversation about growing matters. Bring a friend and neighbor along to discover more about our club and its' plans for the coming year.
