The formal rose garden south of Buckingham Fountain in Grant Park is being reworked as a formal garden. The old rose bushes will be given away to the public and community gardeners on a first-come first-served basis from 9 am to 3pm this Friday. Enter on foot by the path from Columbus Drive south of Congress Boulevard; turn right into the garden. Be aware: the roses are mostly older hybrid tea roses, which are more finicky and disease-prone than modern shrub roses. Call Parkways Foundation for more info: 312-742-4808.
